Product overview A 2001 model, the "6122 Country Gentleman," a guitar that supported the legendary Liverpool rock band, needs no introduction. Now in stock! This is a particularly popular example, a reproduction of the 1962 model, dating back to the period when the guitar was temporarily called the "Country Classic" due to copyright issues. While this guitar was manufactured during a time when the mute mechanism was omitted, the previous owner installed a dummy mute, resulting in a highly accurate finish reminiscent of models from after the Fender acquisition. Gretsch guitars from this period are known for having excessive distance between the strings and pickups, but this has been resolved, and a soundpost, a staple of custom guitars, has also been installed! The rarely used tone selector has also been replaced with a dummy, resulting in a very simple, practical guitar with a meticulous appearance that shows the previous owner's love for it. The truss rod works well, and there is plenty of room for adjustment in both the forward and reverse warp correction directions. There are some minor waving and twisting throughout the guitar, but it is in good condition and does not affect playability. There is a slight amount of wear on the frets, but there is still enough left that it does not interfere with playability.
