Product overview Guyatone was a driving force behind the electric guitar boom in Japan in the 1960s and 1970s. We have the SG-28T, a model manufactured between 1969 and 1975, in stock. Unlike many of the other bizarre guitars of the same era, this model is a semi-acoustic style modeled after Gibson. It was available in both tremolo and tremolo models. Perhaps because this era marked the dawn of the Japanese guitar, many guitars have subtle differences in specifications. This instrument stands out with its unusual headstock logo, which resembles a crown inlay but isn't. It offers a strong personality and a rustic feel that simply can't be found in the more refined styles of modern instruments. The body binding has caused the top and sides to loosen, but the sides are double-layered and the inner layers are glued together without any problems. The truss rod works well, and there is plenty of room for adjustment in both the forward and reverse warp correction directions. The neck has been adjusted with a rod to remove any warping. There are some small wavy or twisted areas, but they have been adjusted to ensure that they do not affect playability. The frets are generally worn, but do not interfere with playability.
