Product overview The SG-2, which debuted as Yamaha's first electric guitar in the late 1960s, is now in stock! It debuted in 1966 along with the 3-pickup SG-3. When it was released, it was called the S302/S201, but was later changed to the SG-3/SG-2. When it was released in 1966, surf music was still booming, and it was equipped with a tremolo and preset switch that was likely made with reference to the Fender Jazzmaster and Jaguar. While many manufacturers were producing copy models without being able to obtain the real thing, the level of completion shows that they had obtained and studied the real thing. It was born at a time when the copy model market was transitioning from the bizarre guitar market of the 60s to the bizarre guitar market of the 70s, so it is a guitar that has a bizarre feel as well as a Fender feel.
